Meet the Team: In Their Own Words

I thought I would start this section with a little information about myself! My name is Katherine, and I am the Heritage Learning Programme Coordinator here at Govanhill Baths. I love history, and joined GBCT in 2019 as an archives volunteer. That’s when I learned the amazing story of the baths and the campaign to save it from closure. My job is to make sure that the local community feels as engaged as possible in the refurbishment process. After all, it wouldn’t be happening without the committment of local people! I have created a programme of activities to let people know what’s going on, and also to offer them the chance to learn more about the building and its heritage. In addition, I manage the refurbishment section of our website, so if you have any questions about the process, feel free to email me! When I’m not working at the baths, I am practising karate: I’m now a purple belt, which is halfway to black. I have also just completed a master’s course in museum curation.
