Our Archive

.

Govanhill Baths Community Trust’s archive is a nationally recognised grassroots project, aiming to preserve and raise awareness of the radical, working class history of Govanhill. It achieves this through a combination of collecting, research, and a programme of events. The archive aims to preserve and reflect the history of all communities who live in Govanhill, in this way reflecting the diverse and multicultural nature of the local community.

.

The refurbishment of the building means that the archive can move into its first permanent space, allowing it to offer more events and further develop this unique collection. A dedicated learning space will mean that more people than ever can engage with our heritage. Having a physical space for the archive means that anyone can come and visit. Whether you are a budding writer, artist, or simply have an interest in local history, you will be able to make an appointment to see the archive and chat with the archivist.

.

In addition, a new digital archive installation will allow visitors to easily access archive content from anywhere in the building. We will be bringing you more information about this in the coming months. For now, to learn more about our archive, please click here.
