An Affordable Place
.
While the refurbished building will have state-of-the-art facilities, this would be meaningless if it is too expensive for local people to use! We have based our pricing plan on extensive community consultations, together with income data from the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivations (SIMD). In light of this research, and in order to make the building affordable, we will:
.
-
Offer a range of payment types, including membership and Pay As You Go (PAYG).
-
Base our rates on Glasgow Club fees, and offer lower prices than other local providers.
-
Use a Pay It Forward scheme, where people can gift an activity or cafe item to someone in need.
-
Ensure that the front suite of the baths is always accessible as a place to hang out, without the obligation to spend money.
-
Aim to always employ local people, which will help to boost the local economy. See the next section for more on this.
-
Continue to offer free exhibitions, talks, and events, so that all local people can take part in the cultural, sporting, and heritage activities.
-
Provide affordable hot-desking and mini office facilities for community groups.
