Women On The Mend

Watch this space – we hope to be able to offer this group again in the future.

Are you free in the daytime and looking for something fun and relaxing to do? Are you looking for a regular creative activity to take part in? Are you keen to learn new skills and meet new people? Join the new Women on the Mend, a craft and self care group exploring a wide array of subjects including sewing, embroidery, homemade face masks and more!  This group is facilitated by Sarah.

Open to anyone living in Govanhill who identifies as a woman, is not currently employed, not in education and is receiving benefits.

About Sarah:

Hello! My name is Sarah, I am a freelance art workshop leader with Govanhill Baths Community Trust. My practice is inspired by my surroundings, connections, cultures and exchanges. I am interested in working with materials that already exist in the world and have their own histories and references, using these to create new and layered meanings. I am particularly interested in textiles and embroidery.’ The photo I have attached is me next to the collaborative banner made with the community last year for the International Festival and Carnival.

What participants said:

“I always thought I couldn’t sew and now I’ve discovered that I can! These classes have been brilliant for my mental health – to discover that I can do something has helped me so much.”
