Storytime with Richard O’Neill
Mon 22 June, 2:00pm, Suitable for all children and their grown-ups too!

Join author and storyteller Richard O’Neill for his second event at Govanhill Baths! In this session, Richard will read from his book Ossiri and the Bala Mengro. In the story, a Traveller girl creates her own musical instrument from a willow branch and lots of recycled objects. She plays it enthusiastically, but it sounds terrible! Ignoring warnings not to awaken the ogre in the hills, Ossiri goes there to practise playing her instrument. Will she wake the ogre, and will it appreciate her playing?

Richard O’Neill is a sixth generation master storyteller and author from the Romany tradition. His all original stories, books and plays are Inclusive, inspiring, funny, traditional and contemporary, with strong themes of inclusion, identity, community and ecology. His skills at encouraging children’s reading and writing have been rewarded with a National Literacy Hero award and an outstanding from Ofsted.
