Rags to Riches is an award-winning upcycling social enterprise that uses waste to promote environmental sustainability, community engagement and education within Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

We employ the circular economy model to offer workshops within our own venues as well as providing outreach programmes to outside organisations to upskill, train and empower local groups and support vulnerable communities.

Alongside workshops and community outreach, we also sell a range of handcrafted upcycled design collections on our online shop to create economic opportunities for local makers while actively reducing and reusing waste.

The Uphub

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been awarded funding by Keep Scotland Beautiful to run our Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) project: The UpHub from 2020 until 2022.

Through The Uphub, we offer free support to help Govanhill and surrounding communities to improve waste management and increase recycling rates of plastics, textiles and wood. By engaging schools, community groups and local businesses in workshops and educational programmes on waste reduction and upcycling we want to increase our local community’s understanding of climate change, the environmental impacts of waste and the incredible benefits of a circular economy.
