Large Jug

Ever wondered how they made those large pottery works you see in museums and books? This course over four evening sessions will teach you the techniques required to create your own. You will learn how to coil-build a large object, how to paddle and scrape your pot and how to pull and attach handles.
We will bisque-fire your finished work so you can take it home with you or you can join one of our glaze sessions.

Fermenting Jars – Pot with lid

Two-day course, Sat, 10:00am – 4:00pm, £120
Dates to confirmed

Do you pickle your own vegetables? Want to make an earthen pot to cultivate good in-house fermentation for gherkins, sauerkraut or kimchi?  In this two-day course you will learn the techniques necessary to build, shape and finish a ceramic jar with a lid that is suitable for fermenting, storage or display.  We will teach you how to build a large pot using coil or slab, how to shape and finish it outside and in, how to pull and attach handles and how to make a lid that fits perfectly.

Tea Set

4 x Wed, starts 17 July, 7:00 – 9:00pm, £85

Learn to make a teapot and two cups from scratch in this three day course. We will be using traditional techniques to make a finished clay teapot and two cups to share your tea.  This is an unglazed teapot that will absorb the seasoning of your teas over time. You will learn how to shape the pot, base, spout, lid and handle using your hands and a few special tools, and we will fire the teapot and cups for you. When you collect your tea set we will send you off with seasoning and care instructions to ensure you enjoy a long life together.
