Come along and learn handy new woodworking skills at our Beginners Woodwork Workshop, aimed specifically at those who identify as she/they/them!
Following the same course content as our Beginners Woodwork Course, this class is aimed at more marginalized genders who wish to learn new skills within a relaxed and inclusive space. This class will be led by our facilitator Anna (she/her)!
Hosted at our woodwork and upcycling hub at The Deep End, this 3 week course will teach you everything you need to know to safely and efficiently use tools such as saws, drills, hammers and sanders as well as teaching you basic joinery techniques and tricks!
Over the course, not only will you learn the necessary skills to tackle your own DIY/home projects and the importance of upcycling and sustainable design, you’ll also come away with either a bird box or a storage crate!
All materials and equipment are provided by us, so simply bring yourself and we’ll sort out the rest!
What you will learn:
- Week One: Introduction to wood materials and processes. Demonstration of tools and materials, planning, measuring, sanding and drilling.
- Week Two: Measuring and cutting wood to assemble your project.
- Week Three: Assemble and finish your project along with sanding and surface treatment as needed.

Description
This workshop will in our wood workshop at The Deep End, 21 Nithsdale Street, Glasgow, G41 2PZ.
Access the venue via the slope which has the sign ‘The Deep End’ at the top. Walk down the slope to the courtyard which is where you’ll find us. Please arrive 10 minutes before the workshop begins, so you can get settled and comfortable.
