Upholstery for Beginners

Welcome back to our face-to-face Upholstery Course!

Oh, it really has been a long time coming but we can finally say a massive WELCOME BACK to you all with our first batch of face-to-face courses! Yes! That’s right – you can now come back and join our courses for weeks of learning lots of new things and finally seeing some friendly faces!

Join us for our first Upholstery for Beginners Evening Course and build your own footstool from scratch! Through this 5-week course, you’ll learn a variety of upholstery and sewing techniques including how to sew and fit a cover while making the stool structure itself! 

You’ll have access to our upcycled textile treasure trove and all materials and equipment are included in the price. The class is open to all abilities and is small enough to ensure you get lots of support from your tutor Nicola.

  • Wednesday 12th May 6pm – 8:30pm
  • Wednesday 19th May 6pm – 8:30pm
  • Wednesday 26th May 6pm – 8:30pm
  • Wednesday 2nd June 6pm – 8:30pm

About your tutor: Nicola Williams

Nicola has been running upholstery workshops for Rags to Riches for years and has lots of teaching experience working with people and communities all over Glasgow. As well as working with us, Nicola is also a self-employed upholsterer, running the fantastic Glasgow Furniture Collective in The Barras, and has future hopes of branching into the world of art therapy with her amazing work.

Description

This workshop will be held at The Deep End, 21 Nithsdale Street, Glasgow, G41 2PZ.

Access the venue via the slope which has the sign ‘The Deep End’ at the top. Walk down the slope to the courtyard which is where you’ll find us. Please arrive 10 minutes before the workshop begins, so you can get settled and comfortable.

All workshops will be run in accordance with the government’s Covid-19 guidelines and you should expect to social distance and wear a face mask throughout.
