Rags to Riches, our award-winning upcycling project, are looking to recruit three new people to join our ever-growing team. R2R need a Business Development and Marketing Officer; a Product Development Officer; and a Coordinator for the Scottish Upcycling Network. Full details for each job are below.
Govanhill Baths Community Trust – Rags to Riches Business Development and Marketing Officer (p/t)
Salary: £14 per hour
Hours: 16 hours a week for 6 months from 25th June to 25th December 2018 (contract can be extended to June 2019- funding dependent)

Job Role
We are looking for a creative Business Development and Marketing Officer with extensive experience in business development to help us communicate our message, help people access our upcycling services and products, and importantly, grow the business across Scotland into a self sustaining social enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a robust business plan for the project with the aim of growing the business over the next 5 years
- Producing and implementing an effective marketing strategy to secure markets for Rags to Riches products and services
- Preparing, planning and project managing the publication of all publicity material to maximise R2R brand and products promotion
- Planning and project managing marketing events and evaluating their success
- Have a good track record and extensive experience in business development role along with extensive experience in a marketing role
- Strong and confident communicator
- Excellent copywriting skills and experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, and other graphic design software
- Be able to take direction and communicate effectively at all levels
- Confident person who is self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Be pro-active, approachable innovative and analytical
- Energetic, passionate, driven individual capable of delivering a wide range of projects at pace.
- Have strong written and communications skills
- The role will require travel within Glasgow and outwith
- Knowledge or interest of upcycling sector

Rags to Riches has embarked in a new exciting phase and we are manufacturing upcycled products for our new retail store on Victoria Road. Join our creative and passionate team as we adhere to circular economy framework, find new and efficient manufacturing methods and help people access sustainable upcycled products made right here in Govanhill.
Job Role
The Rags to Riches Product Development Officer is responsible for designing innovative upcycled products from concept, technical specifications documentation, prototyping and be well versed in a wide variety of production methods and materials. She / He will also identify new waste streams and link up with businesses and organisations to help with their Environmental Responsibility policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and prototype key upcycled products for manufacture
- Continuous development of current products and develop new ranges
- Work closely with Project Manager and Retail Manager to implement continual product improvements
- Identify and source new waste streams opportunities to broaden product ranges
- Develop and refine processes for gap analysis to help grow a sustainable Rags to Riches business
- Recommend action to extend product life
- Work closely with Project Manager to ensure product compliance
- Work closely with the Rags to Riches team to identify cost efficiencies through
improved sourcing and value
- At least 3 years product design experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, CAD and other graphic/product design software
- Be able to take direction and communicate effectively at all levels
- Confident person who is self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Be pro-active, approachable innovative and analytical
- Knowledge or interest of upcycling sector
- The role will require travel within Glasgow and outwith
- Hold a driving license

Join our creative and passionate team as we find new ways to help organisations and individuals to think about upcycling and creative reuse as a mainstream and aspirational option for manufacturing, and trading in Scotland and beyond.
Job Role
The Rags to Riches SUN Coordinator will support the sector to come together and bring about change and increase collaboration between upcycling projects, traders and organisations spreading best practices among members and catalyse new upcycling projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate events and forums to facilitate peer learning, support network members, increase the success and sustainability of upcycling and creative reuse practices.
- Generate and increase partnerships and help strengthen existing connections and mentoring opportunities
- Develop and facilitate nationwide SUN projects and campaigns
- Promote SUN to new businesses and traders and increase memberships
- Work closely with Rags to Riches manager and marketing officer, and contribute to the R2R marketing and business development strategies
- Develop and create upcycling policies, how-to guides, tools, and resources for the network, and other educational materials
- Maintain members database and appropriate communication
- At least 3 years Project Coordination experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Be able to take direction and communicate effectively at all levels
- You will be a confident person who is self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Be pro-active, approachable innovative and analytical
- Be strategically minded, results driven professional with a practical “can do will do” attitude, and be capable of leading improvements and change
- The role will require travel within Glasgow and outwith
- Knowledge of upcycling sector
