Female Swimming Instructor
The Govanhill Baths Community Trust (GBCT) is looking to recruit a qualified swimming teacher/s for the Leaner’s Pool.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Govanhill Baths for the post of swimming teacher for those who are passionate about swimming and making a difference to the health and fitness of our local community.
In 2001, Govanhill Baths was closed down against a tide of opposition by the local community. After 15 years of campaigning the GBCT has raised substantial funds for the refurbishment and restoration of the building into a Wellbeing Centre. Building work will commence in September 2017.
Between the 1st of August 2016- and 31st July 2017 the Learner’s Pool will be opened to the public for hire and for the delivery of swimming classes to the local community.
Reports to: Trust Manager
Key tasks: Plan, co-ordinate and deliver swimming lessons to toddlers, children, individuals and vulnerable groups to ensure that they progress and that maximum benefit is gained from each lesson.
Hours: To be determined within the hours of 9am-8pm week days and 10am-6pm Saturdays.
Duration: 1st August 2016 – 31st July 2017
Rate of Pay: Self Employed /Sessional £15.00p/h
Additional duties and responsibilities:
Ensure that your qualifications are renewed and updated as and when required
To be responsible for reporting any defects in equipment or pool infrastructure to the Leaner’s Pool supervisor.
Ensure that information, monitoring and evaluation forms are kept up to date and stored correctly.
Undertaking administrative duties to support the delivery of an effective programme of coaching and teaching
Ensure compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations and monitor all persons entering issues and ensure appropriate authorisation.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with visiting clubs and users and ensure compliance to all safety programs and policies of organisation.
Set up and put away any equipment needed for lessons

Attributes:
Excellent interpersonal skills with children and adults with diverse needs.
Ability to communicate effectively and build successful relationships with swimmers, parents, schools and community groups
Good organisational skills
Punctual and reliable
Team player
Qualifications Essential:
Level 1 & Level 2 ASA qualified swimming instructors (with current PVG is desirable)
Qualifications Desirable:
National Pool Lifeguard qualification or similar (desirable)
Other complimentary ASA/STA Qualifications (e.g. Adult & Child, disability, other aquatics etc)
First Aid
Knowledge & Experience:
Experience of delivering swimming lessons to a variety of ability levels
Experience of working with vulnerable and disabled swimmers and groups
Experience of working with diverse communities.
Proven technical swimming knowledge.
Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
