Opre Roma!
Roma Holocaust Memorial Day
Wed 02 August, 6:00 – 7:00pm
Queen’s Park Rose Garden
Romano Lav invites everyone to join them to commemorate Roma Genocide Memorial Day – marked each year on August the 2nd.
On this day, 79 years ago, almost 4,000 Roma and Sinti were murdered in the gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau. In total, it is estimated that up to half a million Roma people were murdered during the Holocaust. Roma Genocide Remembrance Day was established internationally in 2015, and is commemorated every year to remember the atrocities of the past to ensure that they can never, ever happen again.
Join us in the Rose Garden for performances, speeches and remembrance.
