Govanhill Baths Culture Collective:
Jude Mckechnie
Jude Mckechnie is a Glasgow based cultural historian, columnist and blog writer. Her work is research-led and driven by interests in expanding community influence and access to the arts. Her projects as part of the Culture Collective project will focus on place, the diversity of the arts and culture community here in Govanhill and the relationship between the arts and community empowerment. She is interested in investigating uses of space, both physical and immaterial, as places which can build solidarity, community spirit and pride.
Jude has worked for Govanhill Baths Community Trust for almost two years and has helped organise and curate a number of arts and community festivals in Govanhill including this year’s International Women’s Day programme and the Govanhill International Festival and Carnival 2022. In 2021 she worked with Community Land Scotland to co-produce top tips for inclusive community engagement which highlighted the importance of public spaces to create opportunities for connection and inclusion.
