On Our Streets: Protest and Celebration

On Our Streets: Protest and Celebration uses the 24-hour picket during the occupation of Govanhill Baths in 2001 as a starting point to explore the importance of the street as a place where people come together in protest and celebration.

The picket took the occupation into the street, and was vital to the success of the campaign to save the baths. We are organising a series of events including: an exhibition of banners: an online May Day discussion, about the importance of the street as a public space and a screening of historic films alongside United We Will Swim … Again and The Govan Banners, details TBC.
