Children of the Occupation (2016)
Exhibition Monday 21st March – Monday 4th April 2016
Children and young people were a huge part of the Save Our Pool campaign: on the picket line; at the gala day; on marches and demonstrations. On the 15th anniversary of the start of the occupation we celebrated their involvement with an exhibition of materials from Govanhill Baths Archive: photographs; posters; banners; the Save Our Pool songs; newspaper clippings and screenings of United We Will Swim… Again. We explored what it was like to be a child involved with the campaign and invited those children now adults to come along and share their memories over tea and birthday cake.
Children of the Occupation also featured on BBC’s The One Show.
