Banner Promenade

Tuesday 25 – Monday 31 August, 12:00 to 5:00pm
The Deep End Courtyard, 21 Nithsdale Street

Artist Sarah Leal is creating banner making packs for the community as well as collecting squares we receive back to make a collective community banner. To find out more about Sarah’s work click to view her Instagram page. We hope that squares will be made by participants from the Arts, Health and Wellbeing groups, reflecting and celebrating the diversity of Govanhill and the random acts of kindness people have given and received during lockdown.

Govanhill “Life In Lockdown” Photo Documentary Exhibition

Until Monday 31 August
Govanhill Roma Youth Project and Govanhill Baths Youth Club
Click for more details

Walk round the streets of Govanhill and watch out for our banners and bunting created from collages of all the amazing photos that young people and other residents in Govanhill have been taking on their phones during Lockdown.

Inspired by an idea from young people at Govanhill Roma Youth Project, they worked virtually in partnership with young people from Govanhill Baths Youth Club to select from the 247 photos sent in over a four week period to display weekly on various Facebook forums.

People were invited to send us three photos of the view from their window, and something that was helping them get through lockdown in their home. What has resulted is a historic documentary of what helped people in Govanhill survive the 2020 COVID-19 Lockdown.

The photos will also be available during the festival to view on the Govanhill Roma Youth Project and the Creative Govanhill Facebook pages.
