GBART and the CCP are looking for artists, performers and images for upcoming projects. Please see below for all the information you need.
CALL TO ARTISTS
Govanhill Baths Community Trust are delighted to announce that the front suite of the Baths building is now open and ready for use!
The Govanhill Baths Art and Regeneration Team are currently planning and developing a series of art exhibitions and art related activities throughout 2012, and invite proposals from artists to be part of this programme.
GBART views art in all its forms as being integral to the campaign to regenerate Govanhill Baths as a Wellbeing Centre.
We are looking to hold monthly exhibitions in the front suite of the Baths. Some exhibitions will be themed to link in with our programme, and others will be open. Themes currently under development include Refugee Week and festivals and events such as Streetland, the Big Lunch, and International Women’s Day.
You don't need to be a professional artist to submit a proposal. We will accept proposals from any interested party, and particularly encourage submissions from the local community.
Download more information and a proposal form from http://www.govanhillbaths.com/getinvolved/gbart/ or contact art@govanhillbaths.com. Forms are also available from the office.
CALL FOR ARTISTS PERFORMERS AND STAGE PRODUCTION CREW
GBART are seeking performers and crew to take part in a project that will evoke a fantasy of the Golden Age of 1950s cinema. The performance will surround the showing of the film “Five Six Seven Eight” on February 25th. The performance will aim to create a surreal “story world” by creating a series of fantastical characters who will act out archetypal stereotypical tableaux, situations and interactions that will engage the audience at random points in time.
The performance will be manufactured through a series of workshops in the two weeks leading up to the performance date. Performers will be invited to help devise and create their own characters for short interactions. Performers can be of any age, sex, ability or experience.
The following is a short list of exemplar characters and story lines that will form the starting point for discussions and the generation of ideas with the performers:
The Paparazzi: A minimum of three photographers who need a photograph of all the stars as they arrive.
The seedy press guy: He needs the latest scoop, the gossip, the low down, the dirt and he’s willing to buy a cup of coffee to get it.
The Mogul and his group: A group of three to five performers. A Movie Mogul, his Glamorous Moll or Molls and his Henchman or Henchmen. The Mogul is there to “see what the clowns have done with his money”, The Molls are there to look glamorous and aloof and say they are “dating the money”, the henchmen are there to tell people to “make way for the money” and keep people away from the money and his molls.
The Old Doorman: He’s seen it all before, is covered in cobwebs but still has a shiny red jacket and pocket watch. He just wants it all over. The big game is on the telly. “You know television?”
The Autograph Girls: They’re there to get autographs from their heart throbs.
In addition we are looking for the following stage crew: Wardrobe artists Make up artists Stage management and prop makers Lighting technicians
