Halloween - Graveyard Ghosts And Ghoulies

Posted: 13th Dec. 2011 By Andrew Johnson

In preparation for our own “real” paranormal search in the baths for happenings “on the other side” due on 3rd December, Friends of Govanhill Baths teamed up with our GBART to present on our first and spectacular Halloween Night on 30th November. With masks, fancy dress, witches hats, decorations, ghosts, dripping blood and pumpkins aplenty, over 200 parents, their children and folk from across the community and beyond packed into the baths graveyard (peace garden ) and pavement for the evening! Entertained with live music, free gifts, lashings of hot soup and ghoulish grub prepared by our very own Govanhill Grub cookery club the ghosts of Govanhill were out in force for sure. Warmed by the stoked up fire tended by the scariest of authentic gravediggers accompanied be hearse driver - it was a night to remember.

What they said! “I was so scared, I really thought it was graveyard at first and there were ghosts everywhere – but it was OK there were so many people there and the food was great and I got a real witches pointy hat!” (10-year-old local primary schoolgirl)

“What a really magnificent night for the kids and parents. The Baths Trust keeps topping the bill with fun for everyone at their events. Roll on the day soon when they are in the baths. Nobody believed them when they said the doors would open soon – and now the lights are on and doors soon open” (Grandparent learned to swim in the pool and Govanhill Resident 65 years)
