A Private View of 'Govanhill Drawings' by Alistair Fyfe
We would like to invite you to the private view of 'Govanhill Drawings' by Alistair Fyfe, on Friday 4th February 6-8pm at the Centre for Community Practice, 126 Calder Street, G42 7QR.
Artist's Statement:
'These drawings are based on drawings and photographs taken during a period of 16 years that I lived in Govanhill, first in Craigie Street and then Annette Street. I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1983 with a degree in 3D Design, but I really wanted to be an illustrator, and did eventually illustrate a few books for Harper Collins. The line drawings of Glasgow buildings have been very popular over the years, and I returned to drawing recently after a few years. My other passion is sweets and biscuits and my paintings of these have also been popular, particularly those of West of Scotland produce like Tunnocks Tea Cakes and Barrs Irn Bru, which must go to prove that if you draw and paint things you like then other people are likely to share your interest.'
-Alistair Fyfe.
